PCRS has an annual operating budget of approximately 24 million; employs nearly 350 staff; and engages over 200 volunteers.

Pacific Community Resources Society requires a regular full-time experienced social services professional for a Youth Programming Coordinator at the Guildford Youth Resource Centre (GYRC) in Surrey.


Position Summary:

The GYRC Youth Programming Coordinator is responsible for creating the tone and culture of a welcoming, safe, inclusive and vibrant space for youth to access supports and services they need to achieve their goals.  This person is a natural network-builder who sees potential in youth, community and partnerships building.  They will develop and enhance relationships with all program staff in the building and with many partners in our direct community.  They are a very skilled youth worker who excels at supporting youth to achieve their goals.  They love building community and being the “glue” of the centre.

The Youth Programming Coordinator supervises the Resource Room drop in program including planning and implementation of activities connected to the space. They have a solid understanding of youth engagement, psycho-social development and community development. The drop-in space provides both brief one-on-one support as well as some longer term case management. The Youth Programming Coordinator should be able to quickly build rapport with a wide variety of youth. The position requires some time spent in the drop-in as well as outreach with specific youth.

As a hub for youth services and agencies, the Youth Programming Coordinator is integral in the co-creation of culture and collaboration at GYRC. They connect well with partners and engage on a regular basis with programs under the GYRC umbrella as well as in the community. They demonstrate a strong desire to create a positive youth orientated space. This position requires working flexible hours into the evenings and weekends. 



Youth Programming Coordination:

  • Develop and coordinate programming and special events in the resource room to create a welcoming and inclusive environment for youth
  • Provide advocacy and support in order to assist youth and their families to access information and support services
  • Work with the Manager of GYRC to facilitate program expansion and partnership development with other local youth service providers
  • Create and distribute monthly programming calendar and GYRC activities schedule
  • Responsible for the day-to-day program operational budgets and assists with reports to funders
  • Fulfill financial, statistical, and other progress reporting requirements
  • Communicate regularly with GYRC partners and develop and maintain positive working relationships
  • Complete regular program evaluation incorporating creative feedback mechanisms

Academic and Job Experience Required:


Bachelor Degree in related field plus 2 years’ experience, or Child and Youth Care Diploma plus 2 years’ experience or a combination of related work experience and education with at-risk or multi-barriered youth


Basic Requirements:

  • Criminal records check
  • Standard first aid and CPR

Desired Requirements:

  • Crisis intervention and de-escalation training
  • Trauma informed practice training
  • Training to address depression/suicide/mental health assessment an asset
  • Certification in recreation, arts and youth engagement an asset

Work Conditions:


Flexible hours – Between 8:30am – 8:00pm with occasional weekends
