Counsellor, In Sync Program (HR253)

One temporary one year full time position available (37.5 hours per week)
54,332 - $56,021 annually

Position Summary
Are you passionate about working with children and their families?


As a member of the In Sync Team, you will deliver an in-home evidence based program where parents and children learn to connect with one another through nurturing relationships based on receiving understanding, respect, recognitions, warmth, gentle touch, praise, security, limits and appropriate expectations.  A nurturing parent-child relationship is crucial for producing the next generation of healthy, responsible and self-sustaining adults. You will be working with families that have children between the ages of birth – 6 years.


This position involves counselling, advocacy, case management, experiential education and mentoring parents in the values of therapeutic models that enhance parent child relationship. The ability to work creatively and adaptively with children and parents together is required. A background in high conflict family situations, trauma, grief and loss, attachment, neuroscience, play based approaches and resiliency is a definite asset.  Additional on-going training is available to the successful candidate.



Qualifications & Experience

  • A Master’s degree with a specialization in Early Childhood and/or Attachment is required
  • Experience or training in Theraplay, Circle of Security and/or the Nurturing Parent Program would be an asset.
  • Skills in case management, assessment, intervention, collaboration, teamwork, presentation and group work.
  • Current registration with the Alberta College of Social Workers is an asset
  • Must be able to travel throughout the city-a reliable vehicle is required (mileage reimbursement is provided)
  • A demonstrated ability to work both as a member of a team as well as independently
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

Up to date immunization is a requirement for this position.
