What we need:  A positive, client-oriented individual who:

  • Is proficient in both English and French language (spoken & written)
  • Is inspired by helping people achieve their employment goals
  • Has Post-secondary education preferably in Career and Work Counseling, Social Services and/or a combination of education and relevant work related experience.
  • Has demonstrated experience in Career Counselling/Career Development Theory, Individual Counselling/Assessment Skills, Information/Resources, Consultation/Case Management, Diverse Populations, Ethical/Legal Issues, Research/Evaluation and Technology.
  • Has demonstrated experience in Communication, Building Trust, Information Monitoring, Managing Work, Planning and Organizing, Technical/Professional Knowledge and Skills. (Facilitation experience is considered an asset).

What you will do:  Support Job Skills’ Employment Services and Programs by:

  • Utilizing your strong interview and assessment skills to obtain and understand relevant background information, career goals, barriers to employment to assist clients to develop job readiness skills and job search strategies.
  • Motivating your clients by working collaboratively with them, providing one-on-one counseling to assist them to achieve their employment goals, as identified through the Case Management process.
  • Assessing the need for additional assistance and be knowledgeable of community and social services resources to make the appropriate referrals through discovery.
  • As an active Team member, participating in community activities, job fairs, outreach to various service providers, employers and provide facilitation support as needed in moving clients towards their employment goals.
