Procurement and Purchasing Specialist

Full Time Permanent


The Corporate Services Division is currently seeking a Procurement and Purchasing Specialist to support the College in all procurement activities. In this role, the successful candidate will be responsible for sourcing, tendering and acquiring equipment, supplies and services for use across the College. You will build and develop detailed sourcing plans while liaising and negotiating with new and existing vendors. In an effort to optimize effective processes, you will implement procurement best practices to ensure efficiency and cost savings. You will maintain an Asset Inventory Database to record assets for financial reporting, audit and insurance purposes.


You will be responsible for registering warranties and claims.  As well, you will provide assistance to staff with set up of equipment and any troubleshooting necessary.  With a focus on customer service, you will provide functional solutions to problems and cultivate good working relationships with all members of the organization.  You will support the Facilities department with the development of furniture standards and metrics. The ability to negotiate and an analytical mind that allows for the processing of information quickly with a high attention to detail is required in this role.  



  • Post-Secondary education and/or Certification from the Supply Chain Management Association of Canada.
  • Minimum 2 years in a procurement and purchasing role. Experience in not for profit, preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other MS Office products
  • Comfortable shifting priorities and attending to ad-hoc projects carefully and efficiently
  • Strong ability to multi-task and set own priorities through organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Knowledge of office furniture and equipment components and configurations, with some experience with ergonomics would be a benefit
  • Previous experience with web-based products and services purchasing (online retailers, vendors, etc)
  • Familiarity with the Request for Information / Proposal process considered an asset.


The College offers a flexible 35 hour week and is located at 80 College St., Toronto, ON.
