The Vancouver Island Mountain Centre is a non-profit entity of the Vancouver Island Mountain Sports Society located on beautiful Mount Washington, Vancouver Island, that provides funding and support to island mountain sports athletes and clubs, accessible outdoor programming and educational opportunities, group accommodation for up to 40 people and a public fitness centre, VIMC Fitness.  We are looking for an individual interested in year round work on Mount Washington supporting the day to day operations of our world class facility.  If you are a reliable and motivated self-starter who has a passion for the outdoors and non-profit work we want to hear from you.   

 

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Centre Operations

  • Supports the Manager in all aspects of the day to day operations of the Vancouver Island Mountain Centre as required.
  • Responds in a timely and friendly manner to guest requests in person, by phone or email.
  • Processes group accommodation and program bookings.
  • Completes cash & POS transactions and weekly cash reconciliation accurately.
  • Registers clients for fitness centre and supervises users to ensure safe and respectful use.
  • Opens & Closes following daily procedures for facility.
  • Additional support to the Manager as required; could include managing financials, managing social media or supporting outdoor programming for those qualified.

Centre Cleaning & Maintenance:

  • Performs cleaning “flips” of Accommodations between guest bookings.
  • Completes daily checklists of cleaning for Lobby & Fitness Centre.
  • Performs small maintenance within skill level as required, including shoveling of exterior walkways and entrances daily.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • 1 year Customer Service Experience with cash handling background.
  • Computer skills with sound knowledge of Microsoft Office and Social Media platforms.
  • Demonstrated cleaning experience in a commercial/tourism setting.
  • Strong multitasking skills in a high speed environment and the ability to use initiative and attention to detail to create a world class environment and experience for our guests.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Occupational First Aid Level One.
  • Current Criminal Record Check.
  • Must have reliable vehicle or transportation to and from the mountain.
  • Canadian citizen or permanent resident status applicants only please as this is a year round permanent position.
  • Must be available Weekends, Weekdays, Holidays and Evenings.
  • Experience working with children/youth in recreation or outdoor programs considered an asset
  • Must be physical fit in order to carry out cleaning and maintenance task, with the ability to lift up to 50lbs.
