Are you an energetic individual who would enjoy working in beautiful Kananaskis all summer?  Would you like to be involved in providing Calgary's children and youth a fun summer camp experience?


Boys and Girls Clubs of Calgary is a leading provider of quality programs to children and youth, with a $20 million dollar operating budget, that supports the healthy physical, educational and social development for 20,000 young people and their families each year.


Camp Adventure is located on 64 acres in the heart of Kananaskis Country and provides residential camping and outdoor experiences for children and their families. The mission of all of our programs is to provide a safe, supportive place where children and youth can experience new opportunities, overcome barriers, build positive relationships, and develop confidence and skills for life.


As a Cook with Camp Adventure, a typical day might include:

  • Efficiently supervise the kitchen while providing direction, support and mentorship to staff, serving family style meals on time.
  • Prepare healthy breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks for a total of approximately 100 campers, staff and volunteers daily during residential summer camp weeks.
  • Effectively oversee the placement of food orders according to budget.
  • Engage in regular conversation and feedback around the requirements of the kitchen, including special diets and allergy management for campers and staff.
  • Communicate expectations and lead staff to meet kitchen requirements during meals.
  • Follow all Alberta Health Services rules and regulations for food preparation and cleaning.
  • Be familiar with all camp policies and procedures, safety rules, and emergency procedures.

You Have:

  • A degree/diploma/certificate in the Culinary Arts or equivalent experience.
  • Experience cooking for large numbers.
  • Must be a minimum of 21 years of age.
  • Must have a current Food Safe Handling certificate.
  • Current standard First Aid and CPR-C certification or willingness to obtain prior to the start of camp.
  • Be willing to live and work in a wilderness/remote environment.
  • Proof of Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Search required for employment.*
  • This is an active, physical job that requires the employee to have the ability to maintain a level of physical fitness and endurance to fulfill the required duties (including things like lifting and running)- you must be able to participate fully with the children. We all play here!

*If the checks are older than 6 months, successful applicants will begin this process during new hire paperwork.  Applicants must be at least 21 years of age.
