POSITION DESCRIPTION

 

The Senior Youth Worker fulfills all tasks of a Youth Care Worker with the additional responsibilities of assisting the Program Coordinator with some administrative tasks and coaching staff as directed by the Program Coordinator. This position requires availability for your schedule to include some evening, weekend and holiday shift work to ensure supervision and support for all staff members.

 

The Senior Youth Care Worker will ensure that the program and services provided are relevant to the needs of the residents and that all residential components are effectively integrated with other BGCC programs and are consistent with the mission, values, vision and business plan of agency. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Provide leadership and role modeling for staff team, specific to Agency’s Mission Vision and Values, Policy and Procedures and program and licensing standards and Code of Ethics.
  • Implements routines and activities to provide safe and secure milieu which fosters family preservation and development opportunities.
  • Takes an active role in the training of new team members, including volunteers and practicum students, and completes performance engagement plans for part time and relief staff in collaboration with the Coordinator.
  • Scheduling of full-time, part-time and relief staff members.
  • Assist with interviewing and selection of staff members.
  • Assist in providing orientation training to new full time staff as directed by the Coordinator
  • Provide orientation training, shadowing and coaching of part-time and relief staff members in consultation with the Coordinator, ensuring all probationary requirements are fulfill.
  • Supports Case Managers with the completion of all case management reports, youth program development and implementation, and outcome measures for each youth.
  • Review and consult with other staff regarding case plans.
  • Responsible for case management when staffing complement is not full, while ensuring all basic needs and programming expectations are being fulfilled.
  • Possibility of working within all of the group homes

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors of Human Services preferred or a related degree or diploma with Experience.
  • Certificate/ diploma and/ or related work experience in Addiction and/ or Mental Health is preferred. A minimum of two years’ experience working directly with children, youth and families. Supervision experience is considered an asset.
  • Must have experience in delivery of intervention programs and extensive knowledge of child welfare systems.
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong problem solving, organizing, planning and analytical skills.
  • Proficient computer knowledge of Microsoft Office as well as excellent oral and written skills

Please Note: Successful candidates will complete criminal record check and child intervention record check at the time of new hire paperwork.  A criminal record check and child intervention record check dated within 6 months of the interview date will also be accepted.
