Are you an energetic individual who would enjoy working in beautiful Kananaskis all summer?  Would you like to be involved in providing Calgary's children and youth a fun summer camp experience?


Boys and Girls Clubs of Calgary is a leading provider of quality programs to children and youth, with a $20 million dollar operating budget, that supports the healthy physical, educational and social development for 20,000 young people and their families each year.


Camp Adventure is located on 64 acres in the heart of Kananaskis Country and provides residential camping and outdoor experiences for children and their families. The mission of all of our programs is to provide a safe, supportive place where children and youth can experience new opportunities, overcome barriers, build positive relationships, and develop confidence and skills for life.


As a Program Counselor with Camp Adventure, a typical day might include:

  • Monitor and care for campers and staff that require medical attention, acting proactively where possible.
  • Properly document and provide support for any incidents, disclosures or other events requiring medical attention; review documentation of incident reports to ensure thoroughness of information as required.
  • Make sense of complex and sometimes contradictory information to effectively solve problems and present solutions.
  • Ask the right questions to accurately and effectively analyze situations, evaluate the risks and benefits of different solutions options.
  • Facilitate consensus among the staff team and be transparent in decision making.
  • Aid counsellors to identify and manage potential risks to a camper’s emotional or physical safety.
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality concerning camper privacy.

You Have:

  • Proof of Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Search required for employment.*
  • Completed EMR with experience, or registered EMT or EMT-P, or 3rd/4th year Bachelor of Nursing student, or 80 Hour Wilderness First Aid, or Occupational First Aid Level 3 with experience.
  • Proof of current standard First Aid and CPR-C in conjunction with one of the above designations or certifications.
  • Experience working with children and youth.
  • Completed, or working towards a degree/diploma in the field/s of Recreation, Education, Social Work, Childcare or related field considered an asset.
  • Experience living/working/recreating in a wilderness environment.
  • Skill specific certifications (such as National Lifeguard Service Award, Paddle Alberta/Canada certifications, Outdoor Council of Canada, etc.).
  • A current Class 5 driver’s license and clean driving record, Class 4 driver’s license considered an asset.
  • This is an active, physical job that requires the employee to have the ability to maintain a level of physical fitness and endurance to fulfill the required duties (including things like lifting and running)-you must be able to participate fully with the children. We all play here!
