POSTION SUMMARY

This full-time position is responsible for the overall facility maintenance of YWCA Saskatoon. The Building Maintenance & Operations Manager position has responsibility and oversight for all physical operations at YWCA Saskatoon and the Saskatoon Community Village. The position is responsible to perform a variety of skilled duties, which may include light H.V.A.C. work, swimming pool systems, industrial pumps, simple electrical repair, general maintenance and maintenance of all mechanical systems.

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for maintenance oversight for all physical building operations.
  • Monitors and perform preventative maintenance on facilities and equipment at YWCA Saskatoon and the Saskatoon Community Village; a 80,000 square foot facility including on-site shelter residence, office space, meeting rooms and fitness centre with a 25-m indoor swimming pool.
  • Perform routine and specialized swimming pool monitoring and maintenance for YWCA Saskatoon including monitoring of pool water quality test schedule.
  • Notify facilities director prior to beginning work when a maintenance job is beyond the maintenance workers skillset; report to the Facilities Director with a development plan to complete project using professional services
  • Complete all work according to all government standards
  • Supervision and monitoring of all maintenance activities including all contracted activities and casual and part-time building maintenance staff.
  • Manage after business-hour support building maintenance services. This includes regular on-call responsibilities.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace while adhering to appropriate loss prevention measures
  • Ensure Material Safeties Data Sheet (MSDS) information to remain current
  • Responsible for maintaining routine and specialized equipment warranties and maintenance agreements for machinery and equipment within facility
  • Supervise & perform weekly, monthly, and quarterly facility safety checks.
  • Supervise and perform painting, carpentry, minor electrical, dry wall, cement and tile masonry, or other recognized crafts for the purpose of maintaining, repairing or remodelling YWCA owned and operated facilities.
  • Recommend purchases, cost saving measures, and assists with the development of the facility maintenance budget; responsible for inventory control regarding maintenance materials
  • Performs related duties as required

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • High school diploma preferred
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license
  • Must have current Boiler Operator Certification in Saskatchewan
  • Must have completed the Swimming Pool Operators Course (it is permissible to acquire this training and certification after employment has begun)
  • Training or previous experience with H.V.A.C systems, pumps, equipment, electronics and aquatics equipment preferred
  • Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing; ability to create effective working relationships with employees and the public
  • Ability to accomplish requirements of the position adhering to maintenance best practices
  • Skill in operation of a variety of hand tools, power tools and equipment commonly used in building maintenance facilities
  • Thorough knowledge of proper safety techniques and procedures; ability to follow proper safety techniques according to YWCA Saskatoon policies
  • It is considered an asset to possess current status for basic CPR and First Aid.
  • All YWCA employees are required to submit a Criminal Record Check as part of the process of employment.
