Division/Department: Child Specific Recruitment Team

Reports to: CSR Team Leader

Permanent position: 5 days/ 35 hours / week 1.0 FTE

 

Position Purpose:

Reporting to the CSR Team Leader, this position will identify and implement intensive child-focused recruitment strategies towards finding adoptive families for children in the care of the Ministry of Children and Family Development (MCFD) and Vancouver Aboriginal Child and Family Services (VACFSS). The CSR will be responsible for managing caseloads of twenty or more children, employing data mining strategies and building genograms on each child. Very good report writing skills and comfort with technology are essential. This position will require experience in family support and child recruitment as well as excellent research/investigative skills.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Employ WWK strategies, data mining strategies, complete family finding and develop genograms on each child
  • Prepare life books and health history in preparing children for adoption
  •  Educate prospective adoption families about the dynamics and procedures for adoption
  •  Liaise with adoption groups, agencies, Aboriginal Bands, and communities to recruit families for adoption
  • Plan and organize adoption placement activities, including preparing documentation related to completion of adoption
  • Work collaboratively with MCFD and VACFSS social workers, stakeholders and partners and internal staff.
  • Write reports and design work plans
  • Be an active member of the AFABC team, including activities related to the day to day functioning of the organization as a whole

 

Qualifications:

  • BSW or BA Child and Youth Care (BACYC)
  • Work or practicum experience in child welfare or family services
  • At least 5 years of related experience coordinating adoption, social service or related family/child development programs

Additional requirements:

  • Criminal Record Check
  •  Ability to work a flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekends
  • Clean driver’s abstract and access to a safe vehicle
  • Available and willing to travel to annual training at WWK headquarters in Ohio
