Celebrating its 30th Anniversary in 2018, Out On Screen is a registered charity and professional queer arts organization, based in Vancouver,dedicated to celebrating, illuminating, and advancing queer lives through film, education and dialogue. Our vision is of a society where gender and sexual diversity thrives. Currently we deliver on our mission with two core programs:

 

  • The annual Vancouver Queer Film Festival is the largest queer arts event in Western Canada, showcasing cutting-edge films from around the world and hosting panels, forums, parties and more.
  • Out in Schools is an award winning education program that uses queer film to spark dialogue that challenges homophobia and promotes inclusion. Since its inception, it has reached more than 100,000 young people and adults across B.C. In 2016, Out in Schools was recognized with a City of Vancouver Award of Excellence for Diversity and Inclusion.

About the Position

 

Located in our office in Downtown Vancouver – the Corporate Relations Officer is a full-time (5 days/37.5 hrs per week) permanent position that coordinates our family of corporate supporters and community engagement initiatives. With a primary focus on corporate sponsorship of the Vancouver Queer Film Festival, and to a lesser extent Out in Schools, the successful candidate will work with a larger team to deepen corporate relationships of mutual benefit and to implement events and activities that further the mission of Out On Screen.

The salary range for this position is between $42,000 and $44,000 per year. This position will have flexible work schedule based upon the demands of the time of year with particular emphasis on the lead up and during the Vancouver Queer Film Festival.

 

Accountability

 

Reports directly to the Development Director.

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Serve as a contact for both sponsors of the Vancouver Queer Film Festival and corporate supporters of the Out in Schools program
  • Lead and implement the full corporate giving cycle including prospect research, proposal design, stewardship, closing and contracting, and benefits activation with the aim of raising corporate giving revenues by a minimum of 5% per year
  • Create and maintain proposals / cases for support, and contracts for corporate supporters
  • Complete accurate campaign reporting and prepare and deliver regular reports
  • Ensure appropriate acknowledgments and recognition is implemented for corporate sponsors
  • Assist with the planning, implementation, and day-of logistics for all Development events including donor acquisition or stewardship events, receptions, and the annual Fall Gala
  • Collaborate with the Engagement Officer in communicating and assisting groups interested in hosting third party events benefitting Out On Screen programs
  • Maintain accurate data in our donor database (eTapestry), regularly input and track donations or sponsorship payments, and ensure all recognition is within CRA standards
  • Work collaboratively with staff team to facilitate communications, data capture and reporting
  • Ensure campaign targets are met and/or exceeded while department expenses are managed within approved budgets
  • Maintain up to date and accurate records of all corporate supporters and sponsors
  • Additional duties as assigned

 

Vancouver Queer Film Festival-Specific Responsibilities

  • Oversee the solicitation of advertisers for in-theatre screen advertising and web ads at queerfilmfestival.ca
  • Plan and implement the annual Professional Networking Event
  • Participate in a variety of roles at the Festival, chiefly staffing the Engagement Table, welcoming and networking with corporate representatives, and assisting with other Development-specific activities
  • Create a comprehensive Festival Sponsor Report to be delivered to all corporate sponsors

 

You are

  • Confident working with a diverse Out On Screen community including donors, Festival patrons, volunteers, artists, and business representatives
  • Committed to the values of creativity, courage, respect, intersectionality, and anti-oppression
  • Engaged with and understand LGBT2Q+ communities
  • Capable of understanding and negotiating the intricacies of long-term business relationships
  • Adaptive, resourceful, and forward-thinking; your colleagues can and do look to you for good ideas, solutions, and quick action
  • Comfortable working in a variety of business environments from large nation-wide corporations to small or mid-sized local shops
  • Clear and expressive in both written and verbal communication; able to demonstrate tact and discretion

  • A natural storyteller who embodies the values of our team and organization
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office / Windows Operating Systems
  • Experienced with eTapestry or similar donor management / CRM systems  
  • Experienced with Adobe Suite
  • Experienced with online marketing and/or video production
  • Involved in or committed to film, arts presentation, experiential education, or queer communities
