In BC and the Yukon, children and families are supported and inspired through programs and services delivered at Easter Seals Camp Winfield, Easter Seals Camp Shawnigan, Easter Seals Camp Squamish, and Easter Seals House in Vancouver.

 

Role

The Head Cook has a leadership role supervising the food services team and managing the kitchen. We are looking for someone with strong problem solving skills, a positive attitude, and a sense of pride in creating delicious meals to lead our kitchen team and contribute to the energetic atmosphere of camp. Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Preparing food for camping program, offseason rentals, and site staff
  • Ensuring all special diets and food allergies are well attended to
  • Hiring, training, supervision, and scheduling of food services staff
  • Management of all kitchen operations (i.e. inventory, ordering, budget compliance, ensuring proper food storage and sanitation standards are met)

 

Qualifications

  • Experience in food preparation for large groups (100+ people) and team supervision
  • Completion of a safe food-handling course and WHMIS certification
  • Strong self-starter, team player, problem solver, leader and multi-tasker
  • Adaptable, quick on your feet, and strong communication skills
  • Strong computer skills, including MS Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Clear criminal record check, including vulnerable sector search

Commitment

This is a full time contract position from mid-May to early September. Schedule is dictated by camping program and rental dates, including some evenings and weekends. This position is available at Camp Winfield, located at 1790 Davidson Road, Lake Country, BC.
