Join our team as a PART-TIME CAREER DEVELOPMENT SPECIALIST/JOB DEVELOPER for

Goodwill, The Amity Group at our Career Centre located in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia.

This is a part-time opportunity, 19.5 hours per week, with an hourly rate of $24.05

and 4% vacation pay.

 

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Community College and/or University Degree in related discipline, with 2 years’ experience
  • Extensive background in marketing, sales, and employment counselling/job development
  • Demonstrated ability to consistently meet or exceed established targets
  • Deliver results independently
  • Proven ability to assess client needs and make appropriate referrals
  • Valid driver’s licence and reliable transportation

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct client intakes and developing employment action plans through interviewing, determining profile factors and completing necessary documentation
  • Develop attainable goals and training plans, coaching clients to achieve steps as outlined in their individual plans
  • Market clients to employers, develop strong business relationships, establish and implement successful marketing and job placement strategies
  • Support and assist clients in improving and implementing successful job search and job retention strategies
  • Provide outreach to the community to determine gaps in services and make suggestions for further programming needs
  • Assist clients to secure funding for further training and/or accommodations for successful employment
  • Maintain regular and timely communication with employers, clients and related agencies
  • Assures that clients perform their jobs to the employer’s expectations through regular monthly monitoring and follow-up to promote job retention
  • Support clients with one-on-one counselling and group workshops
  • Identify potential job openings, determine employer need, prepare and communicate job postings to clients
  • Provide verbal / written client, employer, marketing and statistical reports as needed
  • Assist Employers in developing job descriptions and training plans
  • Takes responsibility for understanding and addressing safety issues for the job and equipment operated
  • Perform other duties as assigned
