The Program:

WJS Canada’s Home To Stay provides personal supports to clients in their own homes and specializes in services such as personal care, housekeeping, companionship, community connections, advocacy, and family support. The Home to Say program has been providing support to people with many different needs since 2013. WJS staff are trained in many aspects of health care and our experience allows for flexibility in supports and ensures individuals in our care are safe.

 

We ensure the supports you receive meet your needs. We’re available twenty-four hours a day, 7 days a week. We encourage feedback to help ensure the right caregiver and supports are in place allowing the client to feel safe and comfortable with their caregiver and services.

 

The Position:

The Home Care Support Worker following an Individual Care Plan will provide a variety of home support services to person served. This includes providing home-based cleaning and personal care to assist person served with the activities of daily living within varied settings to promote maximum independence as well as observe and document on client’s health condition and environment. The Home Care Support Worker reports to the Program Manager.

 

Scheduling and Availability:

  • Must be prepared to travel and be able to work a flexible schedule including some evenings and weekends
  • Two (2) Casual / On-Call positions available.

As an ideal candidate you possess:

  • A certificate in one of the humanities, social sciences or related field
  • Minimum of six (6) months in a similar facility or program
  • Current WCB Occupational First Aid, Level 1 and CPR certificates required
  • Experience with basic sign language and/or alternative communication strategies training or experience an asset
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License and clean driver’s abstract
  • Reliable, safe vehicle with appropriate insurance
  • A physician’s note confirming suitability, including a negative tuberculosis screening test

 

 

**Prior to confirmation of employment, all applicants must provide a current (dated within 3 months of hire date) Ministry Check and/or Criminal Record Check. These checks can take a number of weeks to obtain, please ensure you prepare accordingly.
