International Skills Applied for Geriatrics (ISAGE) is a MCI funded bridge training program for Internationally Educated Professionals in Healthcare, Education, Social Work, Psychology, Human Resources and other related licensed occupations delivered in partnership with George Brown College to gain relevant skills and explore alternative careers in the field of Gerontology and Social Services. It offers newcomers an opportunity to gain knowledge of the Canadian workplace, provides access to mentorships and the possibility of internships and employment in the field.


The individual in this position will:

  • Conduct outreach to ensure adequate number of eligible and qualified participants
  • Conduct orientation sessions, assess participant eligibility and coordinate referrals
  • Facilitate, lead and instruct students; maintain participants’ records, files and training materials
  • Provide job search and workplace communications training and complete participant profiles and action plans
  • Arrange and coordinate mentoring partnerships for program participants, monitor work experience placements and visit practicum sites; liaise with community partners
  • Liaise with program Advisory Committee and be actively involved in meetings by presenting updates, taking minutes and contributing to the discussions
  • Conduct participant evaluations, liaise with program evaluator and monitor progress and develop action plans where necessary
  • Maintain participant and program records and assemble data for use in reports and program evaluation and to implement improvements
  • Document and monitor employment outcomes, assist with the development of strategies to ensure employment targets are reached and track participant progress both during and after program completion

Please note that flexible hours/evenings/ weekends may be required.


You have a Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Social Work, Marketing/Communications or a related discipline combined with at least two years’ experience in group facilitation and employment counselling.  A certificate from a career and work counselling program would be a definite asset, as would certification from an organization such as VRA Canada or ICCI. You have proven experience working with Internationally Educated Individuals in the immigration, employment and/or settlement sectors and the ability to motivate and train professionals from diverse backgrounds. A skilled employment counsellor, leader and facilitator, you possess knowledge of job search strategies and are attuned to local labour market conditions for professionals in architecture. Solid organizational, oral and written communication skills, as well as strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, are necessary for this position. A Police Vulnerable Sector Check is required for this position.
