Join our team as a FULL-TIME SENIOR ACCOUNTANT for Goodwill, The Amity Group at our Corporate Office located at 225 King William Street, Hamilton, ON.   This full-time opportunity is 37.5 hours per week, with benefits and pension plan opportunities.




  • Post-secondary education in Accounting preferably enrolled in the CPA Student program (minimum) or recent acquisition of designation.
  • Preferred 5+ years of experience in accounting at a senior level of responsibility
  • Proficient in Excel, Word, Shopify (or similar), Outlook, SAGE 300 and experience with SAGE’s Financial Reporter utility, or similar report writer.
  • Excellent communication skills including verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with online payroll applications an asset.




  • Supervise and monitor the performance of department staff.
  • Conduct performance reviews with staff and implement disciplinary procedures as necessary.
  • Liaise with Human Resources to ensure that policies and procedures are adhered to
  • Prepare internal reports on a daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual basis to support senior management. (E.g. Sales reports, comparative analysis, customer counts, profit sharing etc.).
  • Prepare journal entries, accruals, and recurring entries.
  • Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Identify and record capital expenditures and maintain continuity schedules.
  • Identify, record, and maintain prepaid expenses.
  • Reconcile and maintain leasing commitments.
  • Complete bank reconciliations on a timely basis.
  • Complete monthly reconciliations of balance sheet accounts and expense accounts.
  • Complete regulatory reporting to the Government of Canada.
  • File monthly, quarterly, and annual returns for various reports.
  • Responsible for streamlining processes.
  • Plan, develop, and enforce internal controls.
  • Coordinate annual budget rollup.
  • Assist the Chief Financial Officer in annual budget preparation
  • Participate in Annual Audit, constructing working papers and other financial analysis.
  • Perform other relevant duties and/or projects as required.
