Wood’s Homes is a multi-service, nationally accredited non-profit children’s mental health centre based in Calgary. Today we have over 450 employees and provide more than 40 programs for 28,000 children and their families each year in Calgary, Lethbridge, Canmore, Strathmore, Fort McMurray and Fort Smith, N.W.T.

We are currently seeking a Development Officer for our Wood’s Homes Foundation.

The Development Officer will represent the work of Wood's Homes; manage a portfolio of prospects, and strategically oversee the Foundation's Annual Giving Program including mid-level gifts, monthly and online giving. The Development Officer will also take a lead role in the development and ongoing updates of all Foundation donor communication material.  This position reports to the Manager of Communications / Foundation.


RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to:

Annual Giving

  • Strategic planning, reporting and analysis for annual giving, including mid-level, monthly and online giving in collaboration and consultation with Manager of Foundation, and Director of Operations and
  • Develop and implement a plan to increase the number of monthly donors and enhance online giving.
  • Cultivate, engage and upgrade donors who have given annual gifts from $500 - $5,000.
  • Develop and implement donor stewardship strategy and recognition plans for all aspects of annual giving.



  • Develop Foundation communications/marketing collateral for Annual Giving; newsletters; website; annual Donor Impact Report; and social media strategies (in consultation with Foundation/Communications Manager.)


Foundation Events

  • Assist with the development of key donor messages for event communication and marketing materials in consultation with the Manager of Foundation, Director of Operations and Foundation.



  • Post-secondary education or equivalent experience and a minimum of three years’ experience working in a fundraising
  • Proficiency in the use of all Microsoft Office applications and donor database
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, strong organizational (time management), analytical, and problem solving skills.
  • Proven ability to successfully manage multiple conflicting priorities with minimal supervision and
  • Proven ability to establish effective working relationships with all levels of management and Board members.
  • Personal suitability.
