Employer Recruitment Strategist


The YMCA is a charitable, mission-based organization dedicated to the development of thousands of people in spirit, mind and body.  The YMCA of Northern Alberta is seeking a motivated individual that will provide direct marketing and networking on behalf of the Bridging the Gap program.  This position is responsible for recruitment and retention of work experience partners as well as creation of innovative, professional relationships with local businesses that can be developed into work experiences. At all times, the Employer Recruitment Strategist will demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills.


Salary: Will commensurate based on experience and education.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Develops specific work experience opportunities that match participants’ skills, related training and interests.
  • Maintains relationships with existing employers and establishes relationships with new employers who are willing to hire BTG participants.
  • Schedules daily prospecting/cold calls and face-to-face meetings with employers to obtain job leads, develop strategic employment related relationships and secure work experience placements.
  • Actively recruits employers to provide work experience placements for Bridging the Gap participants.
  • Liaise with community service providers and employers to ensure program targets are achieved.
  • Maintain excellent time management.
  • Maintain appropriate program administration systems in accordance with the YMCA and funder standards. Maintain current statistical, outcome and anecdotal information regarding partnerships.
  • Demonstrate and promote a personal understanding of and appreciation for the mission, vision, and values and the YMCA programs and services.



Education/Certifications/Credentials/Professional Registration

  • University Degree in Marketing and/ or Communications is encouraged
  • Standard First Aid, CPR-Level C, and WHMIS Certification
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle required.
  • Successful candidates will be required to provide a current and satisfactory Police Information Check including a Vulnerable Sector Search.
  • Non-Violent Crisis Intervention and Suicide Intervention Certification (not required for hire)



  • Two years of experience working directly with employer recruitment and community relations.
  • Experience recruiting and retaining employers.
  • Creating innovative ways to identify and connect with local businesses.
  • Building and maintaining professional relations with employers.


  • Organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication.
  • Ability to work as a member of a team.
  • Working knowledge of promotion, marketing and public relations.
  • Knowledge of employment standards and employer expectations.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Windows and data systems.
