Director, Charities & Development


Elizabeth House is a non-denominational program for single pregnant and parenting teens and young women.  It is a home where the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of these young mothers are recognized and supported.  They are given opportunities for empowerment to move towards a healthy independence. 

This program is made possible through the partnership between Charities & Development and the Sisters of Charity of St. Louis as well as through the generosity of donors contributing directly to the program and to Together in Action.



·         To adhere to program philosophy of being supportive, empowering and respectful to all and modeling this in attitudes and actions in all interactions

·         To act professionally and respectfully at all times

·         To comply with Diocesan policies

·         To attend staff meetings with Charities & Development personnel and other agencies as required

·         To consult with Director, Charities and Development on a regular basis

·         To be the “Face & Voice” of Elizabeth House at presentations, interviews and meetings


·         Responsible for the overall day-to-day operation of the program

·         Responsible for Risk Management of the program

·         Responsible for retention and attraction of staff in collaboration with Human Resources

·         Responsible for management of Elizabeth House staff including supervision, orientation of new staff, shift scheduling, monthly timesheets to Director, monitoring resident files on regular basis with Caseworker, regular staff meetings, staff training opportunities, annual staff reviews

·         Supervision of staff responsible for coordinating events, volunteers and screening, household shopping, Food Bank pick up, household maintenance, etc.

·         Responsible for development and continued update of a Staff Orientation package, procedure manual and efficient reporting systems

·         Developing annual budget in collaboration with Director, Charities & Development

·         Budget management in collaboration with Director, Charities & Development

·         Responsible for maintenance contracts for Elizabeth House

·         Securing the necessary office equipment and supplies

·         Responsible for managing vehicle maintenance and driver protocols

·         Presentations promoting Elizabeth House

·         Occasional job shadowing of Support Staff

·         Review/develop policies and procedures for Elizabeth House (residents & staff)


·         Monthly reports to Director, Charities & Development

·         Maintaining reporting systems including resident statistics, incident reports, etc.

·         Correspondence including thank you notes to donors; articles for website, marketing materials and other publications

·         Submission of articles for the Charities & Development communications, website and other publications

·         Participation in the development, implementation & management of strategic plan

·         Collaboration with Charities & Development staff regarding events, team meetings, etc.

·         Collaboration with other agencies, partners, etc.

·         Organize Elizabeth House management files (on-line & hard copy)

·         Assess what training is required by support staff and develop plan to address

·         Collaborate with Caseworker at potential resident interviews

·         Work with Caseworker to review the individual plans for each resident

·         Collaborate with Caseworker at Resident Team meetings (external support team to the resident)



·         Banking for petty cash account

·         Acquiring prior written approval from Director for expenditures exceeding $750

·         Recording and submitting to Charities & Development the petty cash expenses

·         Responsible for the financial aspects of petty cash and vehicle upkeep including mileage log

·         Forwarding rent and rent reconciliation information and donations to Charities & Development monthly


·         Education in the human services field preferred

·         Minimum 8 years’ relevant experience working with at risk young women and infants

·         Active certification in CPR and First Aid


8:30 A.M. - 4:30 P.M. Monday – Friday

(may only be modified by mutual agreement and as agreed to in employment contract)

The HR Policy recommends a minimum of two performance review sessions per year, once at the beginning of the year to set the stage for the coming year and a second one as a mid-year review to ensure priorities are still valid and on track to meeting your goals. For new employees, the initial planning session will occur at hire and will follow the planning/review schedule.
