Durham Region Non-Profit Housing Corporation is a social and affordable housing provider located throughout Durham Region. We are home to approximately 1,128 rental units within 18 residential properties. Our portfolio includes 7 high-rise and 11 low-rise townhome sites throughout the Region.


The mission of Durham Region Non-Profit Housing Corporation is to help meet the housing needs of the Region’s diverse population through the provision of a practical, well-maintained and affordable housing portfolio integrated within the community.  The Corporation assists with related services to support residents in their housing.




Durham Region Non-Profit Housing Corporation is seeking a highly motivated individual for a Customer Service Representative position.  You will be working as a key team member to support superior general functioning of the office workplace and specifically perform first point of customer contact duties. This position also supports the ongoing functions of our key operations and tenant services for multiple departments.


This position also acts as a representative for our applicants, tenants and clients and provides quality customer service by actively listening to our customers, asking the right questions and offering solutions. It is expected that the candidate will deliver reliable solution focused responses to our customers with a sense of urgency, sound judgment and respect for customers’ time.


The Job responsibilities include (but are not limited to):


Front Desk Reception:

  • Responsible for front desk tasks including answering phones, general email accounts and greeting and assisting walk-in traffic, assistance with special projects, entering data, filing and clerical duties as assigned
  • Upholding DRNPHC’s customer service standards for acknowledging and responding to messages in a timely manner
  • Providing rental information
  • Receiving and verifying documentation from tenants
  • Managing mail out functions, courier pickup and delivery
  • Performing beginning and end of day tasks to secure the office
  • Keep the main reception area of the office clean and tidy
  • Ordering all office supplies, maintaining an inventory, keeping all office supply areas in a functional and tidy manner
  • Ensuring maintenance and regular servicing of photocopiers, and common office equipment

Support for Operations:

  • Provides Information Technology support by assisting staff to set up their phones and tablets, maintaining login/password information and problem solving technology related issues
  • Receiving rent deposits and issuing receipts
  • Providing service to tenants for maintenance requests, initiating work orders and logging service requests, initiating notice of entry as needed
  • Managing the booking of meeting rooms, organize meetings and ensure space is clean and appropriately set up
  • Preparing lease information packages and ensuring materials are up to date and available
  • Providing clerical support to the Corporation’s Management Team such as Tenant and Housing Services, Building and Asset Management and Finance
  • Assisting with the marketing, leasing of units, waitlist management and the application process
  • Assisting with accounts receivable, collections and the Tribunal process
  • Interacting in person, by telephone or on line with anyone who may have business with the Corporation in particular, staff, applicants, tenants and Superintendents
  • Collecting statistics, compilation, reporting, typing and other clerical duties as  assigned using spreadsheets and databases such as Microsoft office and internal software programs, creating documents as required
  • Processing requests for community room rentals
  • Uphold Corporation policies and procedures
  • Attend meetings and training as required
  • Other duties as assigned



The candidate will possess a post-secondary education, or equivalent experience, have high standards, including high proficiency with computers, phones and tablets, with a thorough knowledge of MS Office, and Social Media and computer software including word processing, spreadsheets, and Outlook.  The candidate will have excellent organizational skills, the ability to work as part of (and support to) a team, able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing, the skill to prioritize workloads in an ever changing environment, and possess the ability to provide superior service to a diverse and sometimes marginalized population.
