Location / Lieu: Remotely in the GTA ( regular travel from Toronto through to Niagara area)

Position / Poste: Community Coordinator, Post Polio - (3 days a week/21 hours per week)

Duties / Fonctions:
● The incumbent will provide leadership for the development and implementation of the MODC National Post Polio strategy.
● The Coordinator will be the primary staff support for all Post Polio related activities including Consumer, Volunteer and Chapter support.
● The incumbent is required to contribute towards and establish committee / task group / special project work / presentations. Involvement in working groups ranges from contributing knowledge regarding area(s) of expertise, providing research and report services, through to other tasks such as providing materials, preparing documents, coordinating and arranging meetings.
● Responsible for supporting volunteer based peer support and caregiver groups and chapters
● Plan, organize and evaluate community and consumer based conferences, open houses and wellness activities
● In collaboration with program staff; develops and coordinates the delivery of specialized training programs for volunteers.
● In collaboration with the manager, develops, implements and conducts orientation programs for volunteers.
● Volunteer resource management, community and leadership development are key components of this position
● The Coordinator will assist chapters and groups with the dissemination of information, tools and resources for program development, maintenance of volunteer records and targeted fund raising for polio survivors and their caregivers



Qualifications / Compétences requises:
● Post-secondary degree in a related area or equivalent experience – Social Services, Health Promotion, Recreation Therapy, Social work
● Minimum three years professional experience
● Proven leadership and community development experience
● Demonstrated ability to work with community agencies, stakeholders and the public.
● Excellent interpersonal, communication, presentation, public speaking and diplomacy skills.
● Demonstrated organization skills and the ability to effectively multi-task and triage.
● Understanding and respect for diversity and those with disabilities.
● Proficiency in report writing and data collection.
● Exceptional organizational skills.
● Proficiency in Windows based software (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
● Driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle required.
