   Mental Health Worker (Taylor Manor) - Casual

 

Position:  Mental Health Worker

Address:  951 Boundary Rd, Vancouver, BC V5K 4T2 (Taylor Manor)

Status: Casual

Hours & Days: Must be able to work all shifts – not necessarily every day of the week.

Shift hours are: 8am to 4pm, 10am to 6pm, 2:45pm to 10:45pm, 12pm to 8pm and 10:30pm to 8:30am.

Shifts are offered Monday to Sunday (Statuary Holidays included)

Salary & Compensation:  $20.26 to $22.16 per hour + 9.6% on each hour worked in lieu of statutory holidays and vacations.

We do this by: Providing housing, employment, advocacy and support services; Raising awareness of mental health issues and breaking down the stigma and barriers for people with mental illness, and promoting inclusion of people living with mental illness in all aspects of society.

 

Job Summary:

 

In accordance with The Kettle Society values, The Mental Health Worker is responsible for providing direction and support to apartment residents with daily social, emotional, and life skills assistance in line with established care plan procedures. This position is responsible for the cleaning of the kitchen, dining room and common areas of the building. You are also responsible for monitoring the cameras and granting access to residents of the building.

Qualifications:

 

  • Certificate in Community Social Services – Mental Health (or related)
  • One-year experience in a mental health setting including community work experience and volunteer work (or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience)
  • Valid Occupational First Aid Level 1 certificate (or equivalent)
  • Valid Food Safe Level 1 certificate

 

Abilities & Skills:

 

  • Ability to work with people with mental illness, hoarders, homeless at risk and addictions
  • Ability to work with the hard reduction model
  • Understand and maintain client / worker boundaries
  • Familiar with community resources, particularly mental health, addictions, and hard reduction
  • Ability to work with bed bug protocol and assist tenants in management of pests
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to work independently and in cooperation with others
  • Ability to organize and prioritize
  • Ability to establish and maintain rapport with tenants
  • Ability to observe and recognize changes in tenant
  • Have an understanding of psychosocial rehabilitation and concurrent disorders including theories and methods
  • Conflict resolution and crisis intervention skills
  • Ability to operate related equipment
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position
