An exciting opportunity to support vulnerable elementary and secondary students after school with the Vancouver Board of Education.

Our large, urban and multicultural school district provides programs to over 50,000 students from Kindergarten to Grade 12 and over 2,000 adults in adult education programs. Serving our diverse district in 110 facility sites, our programs and services are designed to address both complex challenges and extraordinary opportunities.


Job Description:

You will plan and implement Out of School Time (OST) programming for elementary students in the Van Tech Family of Schools. You will provide outstanding leadership to implement social recreational programming during the out of school time. You report to and work closely with the Community Schools Programmer to ensure that each program is implemented in a physically and emotionally safe environment and aligns with the program goals. Your effective communication and organizational skills will assist the Community Schools Team to provide excellent service to students in the community.


The Community Schools Hubs and Out of School Time programs offered vary across the district. As a Programmer Leader for the Van Tech hub, you would have the opportunity to let your skills and interests shine by offering a variety of after school programs such as cooking, homework support, art, science or sports.



  • Minimum 1 year experience working with children and youth in a recreational setting
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and abilities
  • Great organizational skills
  • Current first aid and CPR certification or willing to obtain
  • HIGH FIVE® Principles of Healthy Child Development and/or QUEST2 certification or willing to obtain


There are 2 positions available and range in hours from 6 to 15 per week during the after-school times (2:00pm – 5:30pm) of the school year. Program scheduling has some flexibility on days of the week. This position will start in April.
