Job Summary 

The Behaviour Consultant works within a multi-disciplinary team, including a Clinical Counsellor and Family Support Worker, to provide direct support and intervention to children and youth who require specialized, integrated treatment and/or service plans that are individualized and that typically involved multiple service system; and to provide direct support and intervention to children and youth who are in need of a high level of care and support to manage behaviour. Contingent on funding; seeking expression of interest. 

 

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform functional assessments and design positive behaviour support plans with families, schools and/or community programs
  • Provide implementation support for behaviour support plans
  • Provide on-going monitoring and evaluation of ABA-based intervention programs
  • Design and present training workshops
  • Conduct assessment activities related to the need for behavioral interventions
  • Prepare supports and materials
  • Participate in Integrated Case Management meetings upon request.
  • Develop positive and supportive relationships with referred clients, their families and other significant figures in the child/youth’s life as well as professional relationships in all environments.
  • Identify and utilize appropriate community resources and programs as part of a goal oriented plan.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records, statistics.
  • Complete timesheets, billing forms, and progress reports as scheduled.
  • Maintain professional and ethical standards as outlined by the Behaviour Analyst Certification Board (BACB)

 

Qualifications

  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in a related area (BCaBA or Psychology) Or Master’s Degree in Psychology or related health field
  • Minimum of three (3) years' experience planning programs and working with children & youth with Behavioural challenges
  • Minimum 1 year experience providing consultation, training and programming for persons with developmental disabilities
  • Must possess the following: Behaviours Analysts (BA) should be certified through the Behaviour Analyst Certification Board (BACB); and Behaviour Consultants (BC) should meet category A eligibility on the RASP (Registry of Autism Service Providers)
  • At least one year in the last five years in a senior interventionist or supervisory role
  • Knowledge of Family Centered Positive Behaviour Support and Trauma Informed an asset
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; speaking a second language an asset
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively as part of a team and demonstrate initiative
  • Experience working with other social service professionals (Social Workers, Teachers, Physicians)
  • Experience in research, report writing, and development of individual program plans

 

Working Conditions

  • Vehicle preferred for this position; must have class 5 driver’s license.
  • Be willing to travel frequently to family homes throughout the Lower Mainland
  • Attend mandatory agency day training/presentations.
  • Union membership is required for this position.
  • Current First Aid and Clear Criminal Record Check.
