Manager Maintenance

The Manager Maintenance is responsible for working with the property management team and external contractors, municipal officials and inspectors in the delivery of the  regional asset management plan including: the coordination and delivery of the modernization and improvement program for a portfolio of directly managed, non-profit and special needs buildings; building inspections; execution of the regional building remediation and seismic plans; supervising a team of including a Project Technologist and maintenance and grounds staff who are responsible for the general upkeep of buildings and grounds;  planning and delivering corrective and preventative maintenance programs; and overseeing the security and safety services for properties within the region.

 

You bring to the role:

 

  • Community College diploma in building technology or other relevant program or an equivalent combination of education and experience 
  • Considerable experience in managing the delivery of comprehensive property maintenance, grounds upkeep and safety and security services, including managing major facility maintenance and improvement initiatives, preferably in a social housing environment.
  • Considerable knowledge of programs, practices and processes associated with corrective and preventative maintenance, grounds upkeep, and security and safety systems
  • Working knowledge and understanding of the Commission’s programs and operating requirements
  • Considerable knowledge of building technology and Federal, Provincial and Municipal codes
  • Considerable knowledge of supervisory practices
  • Ability to plan and manage the implementation of program activities, analyze and solve issues and make effective decisions
  • Ability to develop repair, maintenance and capital improvement plans and programs 
  • Effective leadership, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Effective negotiation, conflict resolution, problem solving and project management skills
  • Ability to lead, coach and motivate staff in a team setting
