CHILD AND YOUTH CARE COUNSELLOR (CASUAL)
Must be available afternoon/evenings and Saturdays

Special Services to Children and Their Families- Private Intervention program

 

 

This program is currently seeking positive male and female role models to provide one to one service to children aged 3-18 years who have autism and/or developmental disabilities. The program focuses on community integration, family support, appropriate behavior, and development of communication, social and life skills. This position is ideal for students as hours are flexible. Most of our work is from 12 to 7 pm, with the exception of summer and school breaks.

 

Options Community Services is a well established organization that provides social services in the Surrey and surrounding area.

 

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Working with children ages 3-18 who have a developmental disability.
  • Responsibility for creating and implementing strategies designed to work toward individual client goals such as the development of social and life skills, communication skills, behaviour management skills and community involvement.
  • Responsibility for scheduling, report writing, budgeting.
  • Must be able to work in a team setting.
  • Lifting/bending may be required.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A. and/or combination of experience and education in a related field.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Energy and enthusiasm for working with children who have autism and/or a developmental disability.
  • Current First Aid certificate.
  • Use of a reliable vehicle for business purposes (business insurance will be required).
  • Fluency in a second language an asset.
  • Crisis Line experience is an asset.
