For over two decades, Canuck Place Children’s Hospice has made a significant difference in the lives of children with life-threatening illnesses and the families who love them. Be part of a talented and innovative team that takes pride in supporting and providing the highest quality pediatric palliative care.

Think collaboration versus caseloads within a vital leadership role that provides guidance for our compassionate community. As a key member of our Counselling team and our larger, interdisciplinary team, you will be responsible for psychosocial assessments, counselling and advocating for children and families, facilitating family team meetings, providing grief and loss support, arranging and coordinating with health and social services, and participating in research and education activities. You have 5 solid years of counselling experience working with children and families in a health care or palliative care environment. Experience in expressive therapies and grief counselling techniques; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience round off your skills. A Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC) certification is preferred.

Your talents include effective communication and relationship building skills, sound experience working with children and families individually and in group settings, solid understanding of grief and loss principles and complex bereavement issues, knowledge of research practices and strong teaching and presentation skills, and a theoretical framework including family systems. Much of your experience has been gained working with interdisciplinary teams.

This part-time position (0.6 FTE) allows you time and freedom to explore your other interests. Regular work hours are scheduled between Monday and Friday to meet the needs of the team.
