Vocational Trainer – Casual on Call


This is an instructor position requiring experience working with people with disabilities - including behaviours and with our aging population.


The successful applicants will have direct experience developing and implementing curriculum which promotes inclusion learning opportunity for all participants. 


Pay: $18.15 - $21.14 2/hour       Union Membership: Yes


This position requires all applicants to have:

  • Class 5 BCDL
  • Emergency or Standard First Aid with CPR/AED training
  • Experience working with people with disabilities
  • Education and/or training in working with people with all abilities
  • Availability to work Monday through to Friday between 8:00 am - 3:30 pm

This position is open to male and female applicants


Duties & Responsibilities

  • Support individuals to become self-sufficient in all areas of daily living
  • Develop programs that teach new skills in areas such as job readiness, social skills and advocacy
  • Deliver programs effectively using a variety of teaching methods that best meet a vast range of learning styles
  • Coordinate a collaborative discovery approach
  • Provide personal care
  • Support meaningful inclusion and active participation of individuals within their community
  • General administration and record keeping

Additional Skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must have group facilitation experience
  • Experience in program planning for employment success
  • Knowledge of theory, principles and practices in the field
  • Willing to acquire Food Safe certificate
  • Proven ability to function efficiently under pressure and manage multiple demands
  • Experience/formal training in augmentative communication and Sign Language an asset
  • Key Worker experience
  • Experience working with aging populations
  • Experience delivering workshops and training sessions
