This Manager acts as a champion for Indigenous inclusion internally and externally. This Manager will lead and engage the organization inter-departmentally by guiding the Indigenous strategy implementation.


  • Collaborate with WBF management team to capture and deliver on unique opportunities e.g. Indigenous companies looking to recruit, train and hire Indigenous women.
  • Collaborate with the WBF Management team to contribute to WBF program development particularly related to Indigenous programming.
  • Provide expert policy and program development recommendations and advice to the executive and management teams.
  • Internal Advocacy regarding Indigenous policy and/or best practices.
  • Ensure there is effective and efficient contract management as it relates to the overall Indigenous strategy, Indigenous grants and FMNI Communities.
  • Ensure that all engagement and training initiatives are being met and that funders are satisfied with those efforts; produce and/or contribute to reports in conjunction with funders as required.
  • Lead, Develop and Mentor the Indigenous Relations team.
  • Lead the cross departmental implementation of the WBF Indigenous strategy.
  • Engage and Drive WBF in Indigenous, awareness and inclusion across the organization.
  • Actively support and continuously improve WBF’s engagement of Indigenous women in exploring, preparing for and successfully entering Alberta’s trades workforce.
  • Represent WBF at various events and networking opportunities that align with organizational objectives.
  • Advise and collaborate on Foundational Learning opportunities based on economic development opportunities.
  • Research grant proposal trends pertinent to WBF’s stakeholders; research key audiences if/as required.
  • Some travel as required.

  • Ability to collaborate across boundaries and be truly inclusive of all Indigenous peoples.


  • 10+ Years of leadership experience working with Indigenous communities in Alberta.
  • Extensive cross-functional track record working across departments to find creative solutions.
  • Experience working with Indigenous women; training, workshops, mentoring & supporting ideal.
  • Relevant undergraduate and graduate degrees or diploma ideal (experience in communities working with Indigenous
  • women trumps the academic).
  • Evidence of ongoing learning in related area – fund development, business development, sales.
  • Exposure to social purpose or NFP organizations.
  • History of meeting financial or business development targets.
