2018 Summer Employment Opportunity

Job Title:  Community Connections Assistant

Dates of Employment: June 4, 2018 – July 27, 2018 (30 hours per week)

Salary:  $16/hr. @ 30 hours/week

Are you a student with a gift for communicating with others? Do you have experience in the Volunteer sector? Serve the community while obtaining valuable professional experience in human services. St. Albert Community Information and Volunteer Centre (CIVC) is seeking a student for this temporary summer position to assist the Volunteer Centre Services program and the Community Information and Referral program.

Description of Duties

  • Contact and liaise with community organizations to update member information;
  • Update and maintain computer databases that includes member organization information and volunteer opportunities;
  • Assist organizations as CIVC migrates their online volunteer database to the Volunteer Connector, a provincial volunteer database.
  • Assist with volunteer recruitment and placement. Talk with potential volunteers regarding their interests and help them to find rewarding volunteer opportunities.
  • Provide reception duties which include answering incoming calls and redirecting if appropriate, as well as providing information to callers using online resources and logging all calls and contacts;
  • Perform related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office (Word & Excel) and internet searches;
  • Strong communication skills & friendly telephone presence;
  • Excellent organizational skills with good attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Pleasant, outgoing and professional;
  • Independent with the ability to work as part of a team & handle a variety of tasks;
  • Returning to continue studying full-time in the fall.

Assets:

  • Knowledge of St. Albert community
  • Capability to use social media
  • Experience in volunteering
