If you are passionate about helping children and youth ages 6-18, and are interested in working in non-profit, the Elizabeth Fry Society of Greater Vancouver has a temporary position for an Administrative Assistant. The role entails serving in an administrative capacity, assisting the program coordinator in preparing and delivering the Summer Camp program, and implementing processes in accordance with organizational best-practices to deliver all other JustKids related programs and activities, on a temporary term with the Elizabeth Fry Society. Primary Purpose: To serve as the head of registration for summer camp, and to assist team members in the planning and implementing of a variety of programs.

 

Duties:

  • Assisting the Program Coordinator in preparation and delivery of the Summer Camp Program.
  • Frontline point-of-contact for parents, social workers, and caregivers for any questions relating to the Summer Camp.
  • Registration and documentation of all attending children.
  • Maintain information using email, spreadsheet, and a database software.
  • Coordination with the JustKids Coordinator in ensuring staff documentation is accurately completed.
  • Attend scheduled meetings and training.
  • Assisting the Program Coordinator in preparation and delivery of all other JustKids-related programming (including Storybook, Way Forward, and Petitioning for the rights of the child.)
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Education and Experience:

  • Grade 12 education.
  • Post-Secondary Education in relevant field desired.
  • Current Standard First Aid with CPR C and AED.
  • Satisfactory Criminal Reference Check (Vulnerable Sector Check)
  • Previous experience working in an administrative role an asset.
  • Education or experience working with a variety of administrative softwares.
  • Due to funder requirements applicants must be between 15 – 30 years of age at the start of employment; have been registered as full-time students in the previous academic year and intend to return to school on a full-time basis in the next academic year; be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or a person to whom refugee status has been conferred.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong organization skills and punctuality.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills- both written and oral.
  • Strong problem solving skills.
  • Demonstrated fluency with using office, excel, and an information database software.
  • Time management skills to ensure ongoing operations run smoothly.
  • Ability to organize work and carry out the duties of the position with independence.
  • Enthusiasm, sense of humor, compassion, and patience.
  • Fluent ability in adapting to a dynamic and ever changing environment.
