Junior Community Animator

 

Position Type:  30 hours per week for 8 weeks                 

Anticipated Start Date:  June 2018          

Location:  The Exchange, 55 Healey Road Unit 1, Bolton                        

Compensation:  $14.00/hour (minimum wage)

Agency Overview:

Caledon Community Services (CCS) is a multi-service, community-impact organization and recognized leader in addressing health and care, transportation, employment, training, resettlement, business development and social service needs of individuals and families in the Town of Caledon and surrounding communities. CCS operates an integrated, client focused model of services that provides seamlessness between distinct programs, innovations in service delivery, significant volunteer leadership and myriad multi-sector partnerships and collaborations directed towards community building and meeting the needs of a growing Caledon Community.

 

Summary of Responsibilities:

Under the leadership of the Manager, Community Animation, the Junior Animator:

  • Assists in the daily operations of Exchange activities including workshops, community engagement, partnership development, and food support programming;
  • Communicates with clients for appointment scheduling, workshop registration and volunteer scheduling;
  • Updates and maintains confidential client information databases;
  • Conducts regular inventory & inspection of Exchange facilities and supplies;
  • Liaises with community partners to ensure adequate volumes of food support donations;
  • Schedules and coordinates food support donations including receiving and sorting of items;
  • Working with and assisting program volunteers.

 

Summary of Qualifications:

  • Studying at the post-secondary level in areas of study such as: social services, social work, human services, community development, or related field;
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills;
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, database skills, e-mail and internet usage;
  • Able to conduct some heavy lifting of boxes or irregularly shaped donations from time to time;
  • Satisfactory Criminal Records Check.

 

To be eligible for this initiative, individuals must: be between 15 and 30 years old at the start of the

employment; have been registered as full-time students in the previous academic year and intend to return

to school on a full-time basis in the next academic year; be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or

person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act;

be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial/territorial legislation and

requirements.
