Options Community Services Society is currently seeking a permanent part-time Sexual Abuse Therapist, to provide clinical intake/assessment and both long and short-term counselling treatment in a range of treatment formats and modalities to sexually abused children and youth and their non-offending family members.

 

The successful candidate will provide mostly individual and possibly some group counselling to children and youth between the ages of 3 and 18 using a variety of methods (i.e.: Trauma-Focused CBT, Art & Play Expressive Therapies, and Psycho-Educational tools/approaches), for working specifically within the area of sexual abuse therapy.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS


Education, Training, and Experience

  • Masters Degree in Counselling Psychology, Social Work, or equivalent from a recognized professional faculty or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience is required with a minimum of 2 years of experience working specifically with sexually abused children and complex multi-issue families.
  • Possess extensive knowledge of play and art therapy with children, attachment theory, and trauma-focused Cognitive Behavioural Therapy as the primary modes of treatment.
  • Additional training and experience utilizing a broad range of therapeutic approaches such as DBT; EMDR; EEFT; SRT; will be advantageous.
  • A second language and First Aid training are considered assets.

Job Skills and Abilities

  • Believes strongly in a social justice approach to client service.
  • Well organized and works well independently, but also as a member of a larger team.
  • Has proven skills in building and maintaining relationships with community partners.
  • The position requires some flexibility for evening work with clients from time to time.
  • Must have access to a reliable vehicle.
  • Crisis Line experience an asset.
