Options Community Services is seeking a full-time Family Therapist for its Family Counselling Program. The primary responsibilities will be to provide intake assessment and short-term strengths-based counselling to individuals, couples and families (including children and youth) referred by the Ministry of Child and Family Development (MCFD). 

 

QUALIFICATIONS


Education, Training, and Experience

  • Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology or Social Work, or equivalent with at least two years recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience is required.

Job Skills and Abilities

  • Experience working specifically with complex and multi-issue families. Candidates should possess extensive knowledge and experience working from a family systems therapy approach.
  • Training in a repertoire of approaches/modalities for working with families and individuals across ages and life stages. Specifically, training and experience in the following approaches/modalities will be especially advantageous: DBT; expressive therapies; CBT; EMDR; trauma-focused methods; EEFT; brief solution-focused therapy).
  • Must be able to convey an understanding of theoretical and conceptual principles as applied to particular client problems. Strong foundational knowledge and experience working with attachment theory across all age groups.
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a dynamic professional team.
  • Current Level I First Aid and a second language are considered assets.
  • Crisis Line experience is an asset.
