Job Description

SHIP is a respected provider of social services, providing much needed support to vulnerable populations in the areas of living, learning and working.   SHIP works closely with clients, enabling them to embrace their full potential and to achieve their goals of recovery, wellness and living successfully in their own community.  We are currently seeking an enthusiastic and energetic individual to fill the following position:

 

HR Student (Canada Summer Jobs)

 

Duration:                                           Paid student placement for 8 Weeks (Tentative start date: June 1, 2018)

Hours per Week:                              30 Hours

Reports to:                                       HR Manager

 

Responsibilities:

  • Organize, maintain, and coordinate office records and files
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date, and complete personnel records
  • Maintain human resources information and related records systems in compliance with applicable legislation
  • Schedule and confirm appointments, meetings, and conferences for management team and/or clients/customers
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality in all interactions
  • Maintain a professional appearance, demeanor, and attitude at all times
  • Monitor human resources related documentation to ensure accuracy, consistency, and relevance to business processes
  • Check prospective employee references

Job Requirements:

  • Currently pursuing a Degree or diploma in a related field (must be enrolled and returning to school in the fall)
  • Knowledge of and exposure to a range of human resources activities, including some of the following: recruitment, orientation, compensation and benefits, performance management, employee relations, and employee communications
  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to interpret and implement company policies and procedures
  • Strong sense of ethics and the ability to handle sensitive or private information with tact and discretion
  • Ability to prioritize and manage conflicting demands
  • Ability to work individually as well as part of a team
  • High flexibility with strong interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse environment
  • Demonstrated time management skills
