Community Programs Assistant

Contract – Summer Student

 

Better Living Health & Community Services has opening for a Community Program Assistant.
The ideal candidate will assist in planning, implementing community programs and assist community workers and clients during activities.

 

This positions reports to: Community Program Coordinator

 

The Successful Candidate for this Position Must Have the Following Qualifications:

  • Passion for networking, connecting and community work
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Attention to detail and ability to multitask
  • Previous administrative and event planning experience is an asset
  • Currently enrolled in a degree or diploma in related field of Health & Wellness, Gerontology or Social Services
  • Proficiency in English and a second language such as Mandarin is an asset

The Successful Candidate for this Position Must be able to:

  • Assist in the day to day operations of the community programs
  • Research, develop, implement and evaluate programs and acitivities
  • Monitors and assesses programs and clients during activities
  • Act as a team member with staff, contracted workers and volunteers
  • Maintain confidentiality & compliance with the policies and procedures of the organization
  • Travel between sites located at Gervais Drive and Deauville Lane

To be eligible to participate in Canada Summer Jobs, Candidates Must:

  • Be between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment;
  • Be registered as a full-time student in the preceding academic year;
  • Intend to return to school on a full-time basis during the next academic year;
  • Be a student in a secondary, post-secondary, CEGEP (Quebec only), vocational or technical program;
  • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigrant and Refugee Protection Act* and;
  • Be legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial/territorial legislation and regulations
  •  

*Foreign students are not eligible

 

Note: This is an 8 week contract, working 30 hours per week.
