Meal Program Assistant

Contract – Summer Student


Meals on Wheels and More is seeking an energetic and enthusiastic Meal Program Assistant to join our team. This position will assist the Meals on Wheels department with administration, coordination, meal preparation and meal delivery.


This positions reports to: Manager, Meal Services


The Successful Candidate for this Position Must Have the Following Qualifications:

  • Experience with a senior population and persons with disabilities
  • Excellent communication and computer skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of second language an asset
  • Results oriented, actively contributes to organization goals
  • Able to actively work in a team environment by partnering with and promoting the interests of all stakeholders

The Successful Candidate for this Position Must Have the Following Qualifications:


• Assist with checking, packing and delivering meals to client
• Answer phone and assist with other general reception-related tasks including:
o Database management
o Maintaining accurate documentation
o Assist in developing operational procedures
o Filing
• Assist with customer satisfaction surveys
• Participate in community outreach activities
• Support team dynamic by actively partnering with and promoting positive relations with all stakeholders
• Adhere to the Policies and Procedures as outlined in the Personnel Manual


To be eligible to participate in Canada Summer Jobs, Candidates Must:

·         Be between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment;
·         Be registered as a full-time student in the preceding academic year;
·         Intend to return to school on a full-time basis during the next academic year;
·         Be a student in a secondary, post-secondary, CEGEP (Quebec only), vocational or technical program;
·         Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigrant and Refugee Protection Act* and;
·         Be legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial/territorial legislation and regulations
*Foreign students are not eligible


Note: This is an 8 week contract, working 30 hours per week.
