Program Overview

CanPrep is a Pan-Canadian online program offering pre-arrival services to internationally educated persons. It provides employment preparation, occupation specific mentoring and Canadian workplace culture support.

 

Employment Counsellor/Mentoring Coach

CanPrep

Full-time / Contract starting ASAP until Sept 30, 2018 with possibility of renewal / Keele & Finch

 

We’re looking for someone who will:

  • Research and identify potential referral sources abroad, support establishing of referral arrangements and act as a liaison with referring agents
  • Conduct intake and in-depth assessment for CanPrep services for eligible clients from all sources, create Employment Action Plans
  • Case manage clients, provide sector and province-specific labour market information, make referrals to other services as needed
  • Recruit mentors by leading information sessions and marketing the program via national outreach to employers and organizations such as community agencies, sector councils, professional bodies and through social networks such as LinkedIn
  • Screen and match mentors/mentees using established guidelines, conduct online mentor/mentee orientation and secure mentoring matches
  • Case manage and monitor mentoring relationships to ensure mentee/mentor goals are met
  • Build and maintain relationships with mentors to ensure repeat business. Close and evaluate relationships; collate and analyze participant evaluations
  • Record and administer CanPrep participant information/documentation collection in accordance with reporting requirements of the project including iCARE and Salesforce, and storage and disposal in accordance with JVS Toronto Privacy Policy
  • Assist in tracking participants’ progress and outcomes and preparing monthly and other reports as required

Please note flexible hours / evenings / weekends may be required.

 

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Services or Education, or evaluated as the equivalency of a Bachelor’s degree from a Canadian university
  • Minimum 2 years of work experience providing direct service to newcomers
  • Demonstrated knowledge of mentoring, settlement or immigration
  • Strong case management and administrative skills
  • Strong time management skills and the ability to multi-task
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships, and are diplomatic online
  • Strong written communication skills
  • Above-average comfort using information technology, including e-mail, the internet, Skype, and similar online tools
  • Orientation to exceptional service and “out-of-the-box” thinking
  • Fluency in a second language reflecting the targeted outreach is necessary
