You have a passion for, and are an expert in, public relations (PR) and marketing and have experience in developing and executing strategies that engage members and stakeholders. You have degree or diploma in marketing or public relations, 6+ years in a related strategic leadership role, and you may even be a “car person”. You are a social media, website management, and online communication guru. Microsoft Office and WordPress are second nature to you. In addition, your dream job would be having the freedom to put your passion and experience to good use…and if so, this could be the job for you.

 

The Automotive Retailers Association (ARA) is a not-for-profit association representing the aftermarket automotive industry in B.C. Our members (some 1000+) are automotive business owners looking to ensure a vibrant future for our industry. As a strategic leader and member of the management team, your goals are to engage with our existing members, attract new members, and promote our association and our many programs. There is a lot for us to do to attract new students and employees to the industry at all levels, and to stimulate education and apprenticeship training and development.. We need to set and promote standards of performance for service providers through our own certification programs, Our goal is demonstrated association leadership resulting in improved safety for B.C. motorists. We must take every opportunity - and create opportunities - to get our messages out to government, industry, ARA Members, and the motoring public.

 

We have an important story to tell and we need someone who shares our passion to take the wheel and drive that story. Okay, that was a typical cliché, and now you know why we need someone who understands how to produce clear, engaging material. As the marketing and PR lead, you must have outstanding written and verbal communication skills along with (allowing time to learn) detailed knowledge of our industry. You are your own, and everyone else’s, editor. This is why a degree or diploma as well as 6 years + experience at a strategic leadership level in marketing and PR is critical.

 

At the ARA, our roles require multiple skills and this position will require more than most. You will have considerable influence and ownership over setting the marketing and PR strategy as well as the execution of various related campaigns. You must have the skills to both plan and implement. This requires extensive technical ability with website management, social media, and data capture. Changing hats and having the flexibility to adapt to differing situations should be second nature and inspire, rather than frustrate, you.
