The Program:

Youth Horizons program provides support in a safe home environment to at-risk youth (13-18 years of age) receiving services through the Ministry of Children and Family Development (MCFD). WJS staff support these youth in making favorable choices that facilitate success in achieving a sustainable, healthy lifestyle in a safe, educational and nurturing environment. We provide positive role-modeling and consistent structure, within a trauma-informed care framework.

 

The Position:

The Program Coodinator 1 plans, implements and oversees the day to day activities of a program in this CARF accredited agency. S/He participates in program development, formulation of policies and procedures, program evaluation, and budget preparation, and works closely with community partners. S/He also carries a direct service caseload. This position requires union membership with CUPE.

 

Scheduling:

This temporary full-time position will work 40 hours per week, with a weekly schedule of:

  • Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday 1400-2200
  • Friday and Saturday 0700-1500

The duration of the position is dependent on the return of the incumbent.

 

As an ideal candidate you possess:

  • A diploma or degree in one of the humanities, social work or related field. Other combinations of education and experience may be considered.
  • Minimum of two years recent related experience in complex health (personal hygiene and seizure experience is an asset), or a combination of relevant education and experience.
  • Some supervisory or management experience preferred
  • Valid CPR/First Aid
  • Valid BC Driver’s License with clean driver’s abstract and a reliable vehicle
  • Non-Violent Physical Crisis Intervention Certificate and Conflict Resolution Certificate
  • Clear physician’s note confirming suitability, including a negative tuberculosis screening test
  • Positive behavior supports experience
  • WHMIS, and Food Hygiene and Sanitation certificates an asset
  • Ability to comprehend information and communicate effectively both orally and in writing (in English), including business communications and basic mathematics.
