Since 1975, The Mustard Seed Street Church (MSSC) has been fighting hunger while restoring Faith for
families and individuals living in poverty, as well as the working poor, throughout the Capital Regional
District. We are a Christian community offering a continuum of care that operates the Hospitality Centre
for relationship building and advocacy, the Food Security Distribution Centre, Vancouver Island’s largest,
the Family Centre that supports and empowers families and our addiction recovery program at Hope
Farm Healing Centre in Duncan serving all who come to us without discrimination. We also offer church
services for those seeking a place to belong and grow spiritually. Through these core programs we assist
over 5,000 people each month with the help of more than 50 daily volunteers and many generous
financial supporters.

Position Summary
The Warehouse Associate is a vital member of the Food Security Team aiding in the coordination of
collecting, transporting, delivering and distributing product. The Warehouse Associate must
demonstrate exemplary organization, administrative and communication skills as they will work with
the warehouse coordinator to update pick-up and delivery schedules for the transportation of product
from donors, vendors, partner agencies to The Mustard Seed Street Church’s Food Rescue
Distribution and shipping of product to agency partners. The warehouse associate will collaborate
with Hope farm and colleagues to ensure timely delivery of Mustard Seed Coffee Co. products to
Thrifty Foods locations.


In consort with the Warehouse Coordinator and the Food Security Manager, the Warehouse Associate
will coordinate the flow of product between The Mustard Seed’s two warehouses and provide
logistical support and scheduling to The Mustard Seed’s events and outreach programs.


Duties & Responsibilities

• Food Access administration
• Transportation organization and management
• Scheduling product collection, transportation, reception and delivery
• Warehouse support (including moving product up to 50 pounds)
• Health and Safety – safe work practices and cleanliness
• Effective communication with Food Access Team, donors, vendors, partner agencies, staff,
volunteers and general public
• Scheduling vehicle maintenance and repair, in consort with Warehouse Coordinator and The
Food Security Manager
• Attending and participating in all relevant staff/team meetings and training opportunities as
• Support the Warehouse Coordinator with the orientation, training and oversight of food
rescue volunteers working in the gleaning and bin washing stations as well as Give Food Get
• Drive as needed
• Participate in the Christian ministry of The Mustard Seed Street Church including attendance
of chapel, staff meetings and training opportunities in consultation with supervisor
• Participate in the Christian ministry of The Mustard Seed Street Church including attendance of chapel, staff meetings and training opportunities in consultation with supervisor
• Required administrative tasks: Transportation route evaluation and checklists; vehicle
inspections and checklists; database management; data collection and entry; management and
organization of incoming and outgoing product; Event support
• Participate in annual employee and program evaluation processes;
• Other duties as required

• Required:  minimum of 1 year of warehouse and transportation experience or related experience
• Required:  Current forklift certification with experience completing inspection sheets
• Required:  Driver’s license and acceptable driver’s abstract
• Required:  Acceptable Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Clearance
• Required:  Computer Skills; working knowledge of Microsoft Office suit; competency in data

collection, entry and project management software
• Assets: Class 1; experience in vehicle inspection and completing inspection sheets; experience
driving 5, 3 & 1 ton trucks an asset
• Assets: Standard First Aid and CPR-C; WHIMIS; Food Safe; Food Handling Safety

• This position is with The Mustard Seed Street Church and requires a person who has made a

• This position reports to: Warehouse Coordinator
• Term: Full-Time Position
• Hours: 37.5 per week
• Must read and agree to following The Mustard Seed policies which are a living, changing
• The Mustard Seed follows BC Employment Standards Law for Terminations
• Must obtain medical evaluation to lift and move product of up to 50 pounds after job offer
made and prior to commencing work
• Must provide an acceptable criminal record check, including the level of
clearance required to work with vulnerable people prior to commencing position
