We are looking for an experienced Program Coordinator and gardener to join our team. You will assist with the day-to-day operation of the society and be responsible for gardening education programs where you will provide administrative, logistical and relationship support. You will conduct research, evaluate programs and deliver gardening education.


You will:

  • Assist in the development and implementation strategies for member and community programs
  • Provide timely customer service by responding to inquiries and by training front line staff on programs
  • Identify, coordinate and implement tactics to increase participation in community events and outreach activities
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to implement partnership-based programs and projects
  • Ensure that all projects are delivered on-time and within scope
  • Track and analyze projects’ performance, expenditures and report success
  • Work with the Executive Director on resource planning, fund development and budgeting
  • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation

You have:

  • A degree in Environmental Science, Geography, Biological Sciences (or a related field);
  • 3 years of experience, including program development, public community involvement and education;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook) and social media and an intermediate level of technical proficiency with audio visual equipment
  • Working knowledge and experience implementing public education, program evaluation, social marketing, and engagement strategies;
  • A valid Class 5 Driver's Licence;
  • Strong communication skills in facilitation and community engagement to manage partnership relationships with community organizations to advance Society objectives;
  • Experience with budgets, accounting and planning;
  • Excellent public speaking and communication skills;
  • Collaborative team focused attitude;
  • Previous knowledge and experience working in the non-profit sector or community development is an asset.

Reporting to the Executive Director, this is a one-year term position with the possibility of extension. This position salary is $42,900.00 for a qualified candidate.
