Responsibilities and Duties

 

As a Residential Support Worker (RSW) you oversees the overall care of a designated person served. Participates as part of the team responsible for identifying specific services and treatment plan, on an individual basis. The key worker acts as the primary worker/case manager, ensuring that the overall goals regarding physical, social, educational, medical, and spiritual levels are identified and met.

 

  • Build a strong rapport with hard to reach youth
  • Transport youth to and from appointments, school, recreational activities, and family visits.
  • Assists case management
  • Provides input to service team and supports client in meeting their goals
  • Provides emotional support and feedback to designated individual
  • Identifies social, economic, recreational and educational services in the community that will meet designated persons needs.
  • To maintain the daily routine of client
  • Crisis Intervention
  • Documentation including IRs, ISPs. Daily Logs, Safety Logs
  • Must model positive behavior
  • Maintain a house hold budget
  • Ability to keep residence safe and clean
  • Capable of preparing & providing nutritious meals to youth
  • Teach youth basic life skills (i.e. personal hygiene)
  • Meets attendance and punctuality standards
  • Attend meetings when required
  • Generalized understanding of medications and the ability to accurately dispense administer medication
  • Follow all policies and procedures as listed by Anika Youth Services

This position may require working in a stressful environment often dealing with individuals in crisis. The ability to function independently and frequently under pressure including, managing emergency situations is an ongoing expectation of this position. Direct program activities may require a moderate level of physical fitness to effectively carry out the duties of the position.

 

The Qualifications you need include:

 

  • Must be able to work the 24 hour shifts (shift work: 2 days on, 2 days off and every other weekend for full-time position.)
  • Must be able to work independently however we offer 24/7 support when needed.
  • Must have a Post-Secondary Degree or Diploma in a related field and/or 2 years relevant training and experience
  • Must have a Valid Class 5 B.C. Driver's License / must have own vehicle
  • Driving record check (abstract)
  • Vehicle business insurance including $2 million liability,
  • Current First Aid certificate
  • TB screen
  • Mandatory clear criminal record check
  • Fluent in speaking and writing English
  • Experience with At-risk youth is an asset.
