McCreary Centre Society is seeking a Community Evaluation and Research Manager to undertake a range of evaluation and research projects, under the guidance of McCreary’s Director of Evaluation.


Duties will include designing, coordinating and facilitating focus groups and interviews with diverse groups of youth across British Columbia. The applicant must be able to effectively and accurately collect and document information relevant to a number of different projects and be able to produce community-friendly reports of the findings.


The ideal candidate will have strong facilitation and organisational skills, a background working with marginalised youth, a strong knowledge of Indigenous culture and strong written and verbal communication skills. They will also have some knowledge of SPSS and the ability to conduct basic statistical analysis (Training can be provided if needed).


The position is ideal for a candidate with an interest and some experience in community-based research who is flexible and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and who is able to quickly develop professional working relationships with youth and service providers.


The position is currently funded through March 31st 2019. Travel to communities across BC is a requirement of this position. Travel to some communities will require overnight stays.


Employees are entitled to MSP and health benefits upon completion of 6 months’ employment. Additional benefits include professional development and health and wellness funding, and an optional RRSP scheme.


Job roles and responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and facilitate surveys, focus groups and interviews with diverse groups of youth and adult stakeholders
  • Accurately record and summarize focus group and interview data, and analyze data from surveys
  • Develop and maintain relationships with youth-serving organizations across British Columbia
  • Assist the production of community-friendly reports
  • Any other research and youth engagement duties as required

Specific duties will also include:

  • Coordinating data collection for 2 large scale evaluations
  • Supporting data entry and analysis of the 2018 BC Adolescent Health Survey

Job qualifications/requirements:

  • Organized, proactive, flexible, and adaptable
  • A minimum of two years experience working with diverse groups of youth including marginalized youth
  • Experience of participatory research methodologies and practice
  • Strong facilitation skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Basic SPSS skills
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team

Educational requirements:

  • Undergraduate coursework in research methods and statistics

  • First Aid cert: Yes
