Job Summary:

 

Performs supportive client service duties such as, but not limited to: answering the telephone, assisting with meals for adults and children, responsible for ensuring client participation in programming, maintaining the day book, administering medications, maintaining the medication administration record, answering general inquiries re: programs and policies, and driving clients as necessary. During the night shift, the client service assistant is primarily responsible for the cleanliness of the administration building and all laundry. Ensures that all buildings and grounds are secure during shift and makes rounds a minimum of every two hours. Follows the policy and procedures set out by Kinghaven Peardonville House Society. Responsible for preparing some meals.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Answer the telephone
  2. Administer medication and document medication on the Medication Administration Sheet
  3. Make rounds of buildings to ensure they are secure
  4. Do room checks and inform clients of any changes that need to be made
  5. Monitor client duty assignments to ensure they are being completed as assigned and in accordance with client duty descriptions
  6. Arrange the chore chart, scan files and enter stats into the database. Cleans items according to the chart during the night shift
  7. Ensures vacated rooms are ready for occupancy (i.e. washing windows, vacuuming, making beds)
  8. Disinfects kitchen equipment and ensures all equipment is off during the night shift
  9. Monitor client activities to see that Peardonville House guidelines are being properly followed
  10. Make entries to daily log book as required including logging rounds, disturbances, staff absences, and any other concerns
  11. Arrange for pick up and transport of clients
  12. Monitor on-site meetings to provide aid to speakers, ensure clients are respectful and any visitors are off-site at the designated time
  13. Do laundry (household), cleaning and make beds as required. Night shift – washing of all bedding and rags
  14. Dusting, vacuuming, and cleaning of office areas
  15. Clean and sanitize common bathrooms
  16. Restock: janitor closets, kitchen products, bathrooms, soap and paper towel dispensers; replace light bulbs. Inform maintenance staff of needed supplies & necessary repairs by writing in the maintenance book.
  17. Ensure all garbage has been collected during the night shift
  18. Prepare and serve breakfast to clients, record information in the kitchen production book and clean up the kitchen
  19. Record attendance and sit with children while mothers get their food in the morning
  20. Log rounds, disturbances, staff absences, and concerns in Day Book and ensures that relevant staff are aware
  21. Performs other related duties as assigned

 

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of Grade 12 education
  • Certificate/Diploma in Mental Health & Addictions
  • Thorough knowledge of addiction, concurrent disorders & related challenges
  • Equivalent in training and experience will be considered

 

Skills & Abilities:

  • Able to work with minimal supervision
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Intermediate computer skills
  • Ability to work both cooperatively with a team and independently
  • Perform physical activities that require the ability to bend, stretch, twist and reach your body, as well as lift a minimum of 40 lbs
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and client demands
  • Basic First Aid – CPR
  • Valid BC driver’s license
  • Food Safe 1
