This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate individual who is interested in social justice, social change, innovation, and collaborative work. e4c’s supportive housing programs provide housing for people in the middle of life transitions, looking for stability, recovery, and a better life. In your role you serve people who, due to histories of trauma and related mental illness and addictions, need enhanced levels of housing support.

 

e4c’s Inner Ways Transitional housing program, in partnership with Alberta health services, provides housing for individuals during times of transition and are looking for stability, recovery and a better life. As an Enhanced Support Coordinator, you will foster a safe and supportive living environment by assisting staff and residents through relationship building and active listening.

 

e4c’s supportive housing programs operate on the cycle of the day, drawing inspiration from the recovery motto of “one day at a time”. The model provides wrap around team staffing that includes clinical supports with a community-based approach of recovery and sustained wellness of the resident. As the Enhanced Support Team Coordinator, you will oversees the nighttime shift and is responsible for key response and decision-making during crisis situations. The focus of this shift is taking care of the residents, building in safety measures that allow people to rest.

 

Hours: 4 shifts on 4 shifts off: 10:00pm to 8:00am.

In Your Role You Will

  • Support residents to self-regulate risk behaviors, provide active listening in times of emotional distress and empower residents to build and use healthy coping skills.
  • Respond and offer support to team members to prevent and de-escalate crisis situations through the phone or in person communication.
  • Accompany, transport and support residents based upon need, intention, safety and availability in times of personal or mental health crises.
  • Communicate and receive pertinent information (resident/facility updates, etc.) to other housing program team members regarding progress of the residents, significant changes in behavior, and any concerns/challenges that residents are experiencing.
  • Complete and review Critical Incident Reports and follow-up supports as required.
  • Delegate follow-up tasks related to crisis situations and critical incidents to house staff as needed.
  • Consults, communications and facilitates relationship building with community members, community crisis services including: EMS and EPS, neighbors and other stakeholders.
  • Comply with all agency policies, procedures, legislation, bylaws and standards (health, fire, safety, city, and accreditation).
  • Administers medication and appropriate documentation for residents.

Education and Certifications

Required

  • Degree or diploma in the area of human services, education and/or administration.
  • Police Check with Vulnerable Sector Check.
  • Child Intervention Record Check.
  • First Aid and CPR.
  • Medication Administration.
  • Suicide Intervention.
  • Food Safety.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License.
  • Reliable, registered vehicle with proof of vehicle insurance (with proof of 2 million dollar liability), registration and 3 year drivers abstract.

 Recommended

  • De-escalation.
  • Harm reduction.
  • Cultural awareness.
  • Mental Health First Aid.

Experience

  • 3+ years of related direct service work experience.
  • Experience with harm reduction, person-centered, trauma-informed, behavior modification, natural law, strength based, collaborative, and/or solution focused practice.
  • Proven ability to take the lead in crisis situations and follow through on recommendations.
  • Strong crisis intervention/de-escalation training/skills. Ability to remain calm in crisis situations. Ability to work in high pressure and stress situations on a regular basis.
  • Proven ability to foster a team environment and provide reflective coaching to team members.
  • Personal lived experience of addictions, mental illness, racism, discrimination, poverty is an asset.
  • Proficient in MS Outlook, Word, Excel, database applications and computer operations.
