YMCA of Northern Alberta has the following 37.5 work week; Fulltime with flexibility for evenings and weekends to ensure effective supervision, oversight and coverage position available at our Edmonton location with staff supervision responsibilities in Wood Buffalo and Grande Prairie (some travel may be required to these locations).

 

Family Support Supervisor – Child Care

The YMCA is a charitable, mission based organization dedicated to the development of thousands of people in spirit, mind and body.

 

The Family Support Supervisor provides effective leadership in directing the overall delivery of programs and services in the assigned area. The Family Support Supervisor manages in consultation with the Manager an approved budget, directs a diverse offsite staff complement, creates, recommends, monitors, reports and evaluates programming. The Family Support Supervisor liaises with program and community stakeholders.   The Family Support Supervisor is responsible for a budget and variety of programs with a cross section of vulnerable populations and multiple funders/stakeholders. The Family Support Supervisor carries out his or her duties in a professional manner and in accordance with all YMCA policies and procedures, standards of conduct and practice, health and safety standards, child protection standards and contractual, legal and regulatory requirements.  The Family Support Supervisor demonstrates excellent interpersonal and communication skills with YMCA staff, volunteers, community partners, stakeholders and participants.

 

Salary: Will be commensurate with experience and education

 

Key Responsibilities:

Program and Service Delivery                                                                                                                                                     

  • Coordinate program operations within YMCA guidelines and adhere to contracted performance outcomes.
  • Research, plan and evaluate program components for progress, outputs and outcomes.
  • Identify, recommend and implement quality improvements to the program, program systems and service delivery strategies.
  • Research and develop or acquire relevant program materials, manuals and tools to meet group and individual learning or supervision needs.
  • Ensure recruitment, assessment, selection, training, support and follow-up of appropriate program participants are sufficient to meet the required program numbers.
  • Problem solve critical situations and advocate for effective solutions for individual program participants as required.

 

Financial and Resource Management                                                                                                                                      

  • Recruit, hire, train, coach, supervise and manage all staff, volunteers and students within the program area.
  • Ensure staff are held accountable to the delivery of high quality services through excellent relationship with tenants and participants.
  • Establish and maintain accurate and current participant and program records, expense and revenue records, current statistical, outcome tracking, anecdotal information and participate in annual participant and program record audits.
  • Manage within the approved program budget.
  • Complete all monthly, quarterly, annual and project reports as required.

 

Community Relations, Marketing and Promotions                                                                                                             

  • Establish effective community relations relevant to the program. Market and promote programs to achieve programmatic and financial targets:
  • Network with key program stakeholders, community agencies, education and business stakeholders to identify needs, receive referrals, coordinate program solutions and opportunities.
  • Establish effective communication strategies, orientation, support and consultation to program partners.

 

Qualifications:

Education/Certifications/Credentials/Professional Registration

  • University Degree in Human Services or Education field or equivalent.
  • Annual registration in a professional organization as required by law.
  • Standard First Aid and CPR-C & Police Intervention Check with Vulnerable Sector Search
  • Non-Violent Crisis Intervention and Suicide Intervention Certification preferred.

 

Experience

  • 2 years of experience in a supervisory role.
  • 3 years of direct professional experience in a team environment.
  • Experience in coaching and supervision.
  • Experience and knowledge of cultural and minority groups, special or high needs populations and other marginalized persons.

 

Knowledge/Skills

  • Excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal and team skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Working knowledge of group facilitation, program planning, outcome evaluation, program promotion, marketing and public relations.
  • Knowledge of related community, education, youth and human services resources.
  • Sensitive to and demonstrated knowledge of dealing with the needs of participants from different cultural and racial backgrounds.
  • Competencies consistent with the YMCA Competencies Document at Mid-Level.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Windows.
