Full-Time Program Coordinator, Unity Project
Location:  Renfrew Administration Building, Calgary

Boys and Girls Clubs of Calgary is a leading provider of quality programs to children and youth, with a $20 million dollar operating budget, that supports the healthy physical, educational and social development for 20,000 young people and their families each year.
 
The Unity Project is a community-based outreach program for youth aged 14-24. Offering case management, system navigation, coaching, and/or crisis-support, the program connects young people to people and resources to help end their experience of homelessness. The Unity Project serves youth who are experiencing a number of physical, social, emotional and psychological challenges and who aren’t accessing other services or programs. 
 
As a Program Coordinator with Unity Project, a typical day might include:
  • Observing and providing all staff members with formal feedback monthly  to encourage and develop professional growth and self-care through their individualized goal setting 
  • Conducting BGCC performance engagement with all staff as per guidelines
  • Ensuring that a thorough orientation is completed and ongoing support and supervision is provided for all staff members, volunteers and practicum students
  • Collaborating within the homeless serving sector.
  • Monitoring staff members’ probationary periods and utilize this period for learning stretches, development and role expectations/successes         
  • Setting up and monitoring staff scheduling to ensure highest quality programming for youth (including vacation requests, leaves of absences and time sheets). 
  • Creating and maintaining a positive, supportive and rewarding work environment
  • Attending regular partnership meetings to discuss client needs and progress towards transition
  • Providing overall program coverage in the event of staff absences
  • Ensuring the Unity Project program and all staff adhere to BGCC policies and procedures

You Have:
  • Degree or diploma in human services or related social services field with three to five years’ experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
  • Strong leadership skills with 3 years supervision experience
  • Proven track record of community development that demonstrates skills in valuing partnership and collaboration among non-profit and youth-serving organizations
  • Extensive understanding of vulnerable youth and the multi-faceted issues they face
  • Understanding of sexual exploitation and PSECA legislation and services
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Acceptable drivers abstract and access to automobile, Class 4 drivers an asset
  • Current certification for First Aid and CPR
  • Clear Criminal Check with Vulnerable Sector Check and clear Intervention Record Check*
*If the checks are older than 6 months, successful applicants will begin this process during new hire paperwork.
