Full-Time Program Coordinator

Location: Avenue 15, Calgary

Boys and Girls Clubs of Calgary is a leading provider of quality programs to children and youth, with a $20 million dollar operating budget, that supports the healthy physical, educational and social development for 20,000 young people and their families each year.

 

Avenue 15 provides youth experiencing homelessness with temporary shelter and basic needs, as well as a comprehensive support system to assist them in reuniting with their families or finding alternative living arrangements. Avenue 15 provides 2 programs (Link & Launch) to support youth with the opportunities to gain the skills and stability to reunify with family or be successful in other living arrangements.

 

As a Program Coordinator with Avenue 15, a typical day might include:

 

  • Ensuring support and supervision of program volunteers and practicum students
  • Coordinating staff recruiting and termination when necessary.
  • Maintaining staff scheduling (including vacation requests, leaves of absences and time sheets)
  • Ensuring that a thorough and complete orientation is completed for all new staff members.
  • Maintaining nominal roles and other monthly statistics.
  • Providing staff members with support and encouragement for professional growth.
  • Creating and maintaining a positive, supportive and rewarding work environment
  • Ensuring all crisis situations are debriefed and documentation is received by appropriate parties within one business day
  • Providing support, direction and leadership in the development of new and innovative ideas with regards to shelter programming
  • Ensuring program adheres to CARF Standards and all licensing requirements.
  • Setting up and maintain a file management system.
  • Ensuring all existing and new programming is consistent with the mission, values, vision and strategic plan of BGCC
  • Ensuring programming reflects a strength-base, client-centered approach that considers their stage of change and promotes optimal youth development.
  • Ensuring that a daily routine is set up and adhered to.
  • Ensuring nutritious meals are provided daily and the program is kept clean and well maintained.
  • Ensuring all youth have an opportunity to learn life skills such as chores, laundry, and personal life skills to support them as they transition

You Have:

  • Must have experience with vulnerable populations
  • Degree or Diploma, in Human Services is preferred or a related educational background with experience.
  • Extensive understanding of CARF Standards
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong problem solving, organizing, planning and analytical skills.
  • Supportive team player and team builder.
  • Current First Aid and CPR
  • Clear security clearances
  • Proficient computer knowledge of Microsoft Office as well as excellent oral and written skills
  • Criminal Record Check with vulnerable sector search and Intervention Record Check*

 

*If the checks are older than 6 months, successful applicants will begin this process during new hire paperwork.
