We're looking for a Director of Clubs and Experiential Learning to join our team! Working under the Chief Operating Officer, this position is responsible for connecting with families, community and stakeholders to look for opportunities to collaborate and strengthen networks.  The Director will be the lead on outcome reporting, grant and proposal writing, adherence to accreditation standards, the identification and implementation of best and promising practices and will ensure that internal programs and services are supported to meet the diverse needs of the community.

Boys and Girls Clubs of Calgary is a leading provider of quality programs to children and youth, with a $20 million dollar operating budget, that supports the healthy physical, educational and social development for 20,000 young people and their families each year.
 
As a Director of Clubs and Experiential Learning, a typical day might include:
  • Providing thought leadership and direction to the development, evolution and achievement of Clubs and Experiential Learning outcomes and ensure alignment with the agency’s vision.
  • Facilitating the translation of outcomes into specific business and program goals and objectives for Clubs and Experiential Learning services.
  • Working with overall program leadership team to ensure programs are developed and delivered in coordination with other program areas, leveraging the expertise of the agency as appropriate.
  • Providing guidance to the agency for outcomes and programming, leading the agency’s efforts to learn and build capacity and leading efforts to effectively communicate with the community.
  • Working with leadership to develop effective program models that incorporate client needs, program integration, and effective measurement and reporting mechanisms.
  • Equiping, empowering, and inspiring Program Managers to align programs with a common vision.
  • Providing support to the Manager in relation to staff, volunteers and practicum students.  
  • In collaboration with Program Managers, securing, developing, and retaining effective staff.
  • Ensuring programs satisfy accreditation, health and safety and other governing standards and legislation.
  • Investing in understanding the broader external context and issues related to the community and develop supportive partnerships and collaborations to support outcome achievement.
  • Representing the agency on external committees and build positive relationships with stakeholders to advocate for system, policy and programmatic changes that are in the best interest of the community.
  • Define and communicate to funders and stakeholders, in coordination with the agency, long-term visionary funding priorities related to programming.
  • Taking the lead on proposal and grant opportunities to secure funding and further programming.
  • Developing and manage intentional relationship with core funders, in collaboration with the Senior Director of Programs, Directors and Program Managers as required.
  • Working in partnership with top leadership, contribute ideas and act to realize effective and efficient agency operations at a systemic level.

You Have:
  • Bachelors level in human services or equivalent of education and experience.
  • Preference of five or more years’ experience in a supervisory/management position as well as experience working directly with children, youth, families and the community.
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, communication, and relationship building skills.
  • Experience supervising, supporting, and directing staff and volunteers.
  • Strong problem solving, organizing, planning, and analytical skills.
  • Understanding and application of outcome measurement and logic models.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including proposal writing, media relations and public speaking skills.
  • Strong team player and team builder, able to work independently, and self-motivated.
  • Strong administrative skills and ability to multi-task.
  • Computer literate – MS Word, Excel, Power Point, Internet.
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license and access to automobile required.
  • Criminal Record Check with vulnerable sector search and Intervention Record Check prior to starting work and maintained.*
